Day 5 - Hillsboro to Hilliard

Only on an Ohio trip ...
There are some special grandchildren events on tap this weekend.  We had originally planned to return to Columbus on Saturday for a brief layover.  The weather dampened the plan a bit.

It rained gently through the night and continued this morning.  We decided to head back today, and visit A W Marion and Deer Creek state campgrounds on the way.

This kind of maneuver wouldn't have been possible on our previous out-of-state trips.

Getting started ...
We waited for the rain to stop before starting to connect the trailer.  We started at 9:45 and finished at 10:15.  Unfortunately, it started to rain again before we finished.

Along the way ...
Our 149 mile excursion took us though Bainbridge, Chillicothe, Circleville and Mt. Sterling.

Note:  Downtown Chillicothe was attractive and full of history.  We want to go back and explore it.

It rained intermittently until about 4pm.

We had quite a challenge finding the A W Marion campground.  The route signs for OH-188 though and out of Circleville  were poorly placed.  The campground signs were confusing, hard to see or non-existent.  The campground was one of the most unappealing we've seen.

The Deer Creek campground was outstanding.  It offered some amenities we haven't seen anywhere (e.g. golf course, shooting range).

We dropped the trailer at our storage facility at about 5:30pm.
