Day 4 - Hillsboro (day 2)

We woke around 6am.  Not because we were anxious to go exploring, but because we were cold.  We'd been running on a propane tank with remains from our last trip.  It ran out.  We're grateful that Airstream had the wisdom to equip us with 2 tanks.

It's a really peaceful, pretty morning.

Dick faced reality today.  He's been wearing shorts since Monday in an effort to keep spring weather warm.  This morning's low 40s temperature, partnered with a stiff breeze, was too much.  Long pants are mandatory today.

We explored for 144 miles today ... passing through Bainbridge, Piketon, Waverly and Chillicothe on the way.  The sun made it through the clouds and the temperature reached the mid-60s.

We visited Paint Creek, Pike Lake, Scioto Trail and Great Seal state parks.  Paint Creek and Rocky Fork campgrounds, though very different, have become top choice destinations for us.

US-50 was a large part of our route today.  A few fun views follow.
We saw this farm home along US 50 near Bainbridge.
... and zoomed in for a closer look.
Carol has enjoyed the Redbud Trees.

We stopped for lunch at Doc's Bainbridge Restaurant and remembered that we haven't mentioned our special dining stops so far.  Some of the smaller towns have some real treats.   Try the Ruben Sandwich at Doc's.

Slow & Low Barbecue looks like a small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant in downtown Hillsboro.  We tried it yesterday and discovered a pleasant atmosphere, a fun menu and an excellent Pulled Pork Sandwich special.

We got back to the trailer at about 4:30, prepped today's pictures, had dinner, planned tomorrow's itinerary, went for ice cream (we heard somewhere it's therapeutic), then settled in for the night.
